The effect of vitamin D supplementation on clinical symptoms and metabolic profiles in patients with endometriosis

Methodology
Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 50,000 IU vitamin D or placebo every 2 weeks for 12 weeks in women aged 18-40 with endometriosis
Key Findings
Vitamin D significantly decreased pelvic pain (beta -1.12; 95% CI -2.1, -0.09), reduced hs-CRP (beta -0.64 mg/L) and increased total antioxidant capacity (beta 47.54 mmol/L) versus placebo.
Conclusions
Twelve weeks of high-dose intermittent vitamin D improved pelvic pain and inflammatory/antioxidant markers in endometriosis.
Limitations
Single-center trial, small sample, short duration, and no long-term follow-up.
