Methodology
GRADE-assessed systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of 21 randomized trials of tart cherry on blood pressure, heart rate and inflammatory markers; searches to May 2022.
Key Findings
Tart cherry did not affect blood pressure, heart rate, hs-CRP or IL-6. It lowered serum CRP (WMD -0.39 mg/L, 95% CI -0.74 to -0.05; moderate certainty), and each 30 mL increase in dose lowered CRP by 0.19 mg/L.
Conclusions
Tart cherry generally does not affect blood pressure but may lower CRP at adequate doses.
Limitations
Varied products and populations; certainty for most outcomes low.
Supplements Studied
Tart cherry didn't affect blood pressure, heart rate, high-sensitive C-reactive protein, and interleukin-6
Outcomes Measured
Tart cherry didn't affect blood pressure, heart rate
