Methodology
Randomised prospective controlled trial in 208 women with poor ovarian reserve (AMH < 1 ng/ml or FSH > 15 IU/l with antral follicle count < 4) on a microdose protocol: IVF-ICSI plus DHEA 75 mg daily for 12 weeks (n = 104) or IVF-ICSI alone (n = 104).
Key Findings
Eggs retrieved and fertilisation rate were slightly higher with DHEA, but pregnancy rate was higher in the control group; none of the differences were significant.
Conclusions
DHEA supplementation did not enhance IVF-ICSI outcome in women with poor ovarian reserve.
Limitations
No placebo or blinding reported; outcome numbers not given in the abstract; live birth not reported in the abstract.
