Published in Drug Des Devel Ther, Vol. 20, pp. 583321
Methodology
Prospective randomized controlled study in 100 poor ovarian responders (Bologna criteria): CoQ10 plus folic acid versus folic acid alone, for one month before and during an ICSI cycle.
Key Findings
More oocytes and higher peak estradiol with CoQ10 (P < 0.001); chemical and clinical pregnancy rates and completed cycles did not differ.
Conclusions
CoQ10 improved ovarian response and embryological measures; pregnancy effects need further study.
Limitations
Small, single-centre; primary outcome was oocyte count; abstract does not report the CoQ10 dose.
Supplements Studied
CoQ10 markedly improved the oocyte count and peak E2
