Systematic review and random-effects meta-analysis of 14 studies reporting serum 25(OH)D in patients with obstructive sleep apnea versus controls
Key Findings
Serum 25(OH)D was progressively lower with increasing OSA severity: -2.7% in mild, -10.1% in moderate and -17.4% in severe OSA relative to controls.
Conclusions
Vitamin D levels are lower in people with OSA in proportion to severity, but the direction of causality is unclear and BMI may confound the association.
