    Methodology

    Randomised double-blind placebo-controlled trial (MITCH) of 200 micrograms iodine daily in mildly iodine-deficient pregnant women in India and Thailand with child neurodevelopment assessed at 5-6 years

    Key Findings

    Child IQ and neurodevelopmental scores at age 5-6 years did not differ between iodine and placebo groups despite improved maternal iodine status.

    Conclusions

    Iodine supplementation in mild deficiency did not improve child cognitive outcomes.

    Limitations
