    Intensive glycaemic control and fenofibrate-statin therapy slowed retinopathy progression; blood pressure lowering did not.

    Blood glucose control, not blood pressure lowering, protects diabetic vision.

    Limitations

    Type 2 diabetes only; no supplement arms.
