Methodology
Retrospective case series of 25 patients hospitalised with acute hepatitis after ingesting Polygonum multiflorum.
Key Findings
All cases showed hepatocellular-pattern injury with a mean latency of about 30 days; all recovered after withdrawal, one required prolonged hospitalisation.
Conclusions
Acute hepatitis is a recognised consequence of Fo-Ti ingestion in otherwise healthy adults.

Single-centre case series without controls; causality by exclusion.
