    Methodology

    Two identical phase 3 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials of mesalamine for prevention of recurrent diverticulitis.

    Key Findings

    Mesalamine did not reduce diverticulitis recurrence compared with placebo in either trial.

    Conclusions

    Maintenance anti-inflammatory therapy is not effective for recurrent diverticulitis.
