Published in Appetite
Methodology
Double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial of the YGD herb formulation (yerba mate, guarana, damiana) and soluble fibre on ad libitum lunch intake in normal to slightly overweight women
Key Findings
YGD reduced food intake by 16.3% and energy intake by 112.4 kcal at an ad libitum meal versus conditions without it.
Conclusions
Acute appetite suppression is demonstrable for the damiana-containing YGD blend, though caffeine-bearing co-ingredients likely contribute.
Limitations
Single-meal acute design; no long-term weight outcomes; combination product; commercially funded.
Supplements Studied
Significant reductions in food intake and energy intake were observed when YGD was present (59.5g, 16.3%; 112.4kcal, 17.3%).
