    Effect of ginger on gastric motility and symptoms of functional dyspepsia

    Methodology

    Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study of ginger capsules on gastric emptying, antral motility and dyspeptic symptoms in patients with functional dyspepsia.

    Ginger significantly accelerated gastric emptying and stimulated antral contractions but produced no measurable improvement in gastrointestinal symptoms.

    Conclusions

    Ginger enhances gastric motility in functional dyspepsia without a demonstrable symptomatic benefit in this small study.
