Published in World Journal of Gastroenterology
Methodology
Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study of ginger capsules on gastric emptying, antral motility and dyspeptic symptoms in patients with functional dyspepsia.
Key Findings
Ginger significantly accelerated gastric emptying and stimulated antral contractions but produced no measurable improvement in gastrointestinal symptoms.
Conclusions
Ginger enhances gastric motility in functional dyspepsia without a demonstrable symptomatic benefit in this small study.
Limitations
Very small sample; single-dose acute design; symptom measures underpowered.
Supplements Studied
