Published in Complementary Medicine Research, Vol. 24, pp. 46-52
Methodology
Uncontrolled, open-label multicentre trial; 100 subjects with prolonged or chronic fatigue took 2 x 200 mg of dry ethanolic extract WS 1375 for 8 weeks with exploratory fatigue scales and tests.
Key Findings
The greatest change was observed after 1 week of treatment, and fatigue symptoms continued to decline with statistically significant improvement at week 8; tolerability was favourable.
Conclusions
WS 1375 at 2 x 200 mg daily may be an effective and well-tolerated treatment for prolonged or chronic fatigue, though the design is hypothesis-generating only.
Limitations
Open-label and uncontrolled with no placebo arm; exploratory analysis; manufacturer-linked extract.
Supplements Studied
The fatigue symptoms continued to decline further, with statistically significant improvement at week 8.
