    Nano-emodin mediated photodynamic therapy for wound healing of donor site after free gingival graft: a parallel clinical trial

    Methodology

    Single-centre, parallel, two-blind randomised controlled trial in 53 patients undergoing free gingival graft surgery, comparing nano-emodin gel plus 450 nm LED photodynamic therapy, nano-emodin gel alone and placebo gel applied immediately and 48 hours after surgery

    Key Findings

    Topical nano-emodin mediated photodynamic therapy is the only randomised human evidence available for emodin, and it addresses local wound healing rather than any oral supplement use.

    Conclusions

    Human emodin data are confined to a small topical dental trial; no oral supplementation RCTs exist.
