Methodology
Umbrella review of umbrella reviews, meta-analyses and systematic reviews of RCTs on nutrient supplements for female infertility (Aug 2017-Jan 2024), appraised with AMSTAR 2 and GRADE.
Key Findings
Across nutrient supplements used for female infertility, certainty of evidence for live birth and clinical pregnancy was generally low to very low, with the most consistent signals for inositol in PCOS and CoQ10 in poor ovarian responders.
Conclusions
Nutrient supplements are widely used but current evidence does not support confident claims of improved live birth; guidance should be cautious.
Limitations
Overlapping primary trials across reviews; heterogeneous populations and dosing; low methodological quality in many source reviews.
