    Methodology

    Three-cycle randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of Vitex agnus castus extract Ze 440 in 178 women with premenstrual syndrome.

    Responder rate was 52% with agnus castus versus 24% with placebo, with improvements in irritability, mood, anger, headache and breast fullness.

    Conclusions

    Agnus castus fruit extract is an effective and well tolerated treatment for premenstrual syndrome.
