Methodology
Randomized 8-week volunteer study in 12 healthy adults assigned to 250 mg or 350 mg daily aqueous Uncaria tomentosa extract (C-Med-100) or no supplement, measuring DNA repair after hydrogen-peroxide-induced damage
Key Findings
Supplemented groups showed a statistically significant decrease in DNA damage and increase in DNA repair versus non-supplemented controls, with no drug-related toxicity on clinical chemistry or blood counts.
Conclusions
Aqueous cat's claw extract enhanced a laboratory marker of DNA repair in healthy volunteers and was well tolerated.
Limitations
Extremely small sample (12 participants), no placebo control, surrogate laboratory endpoint with no clinical outcome, author affiliation with the extract developer.
