Methodology
Multicenter randomized double-blind 2x2 factorial trial of aspirin 300 mg/day and folic acid 0.5 mg/day with repeat colonoscopy at about 3 years
Key Findings
Aspirin reduced recurrent adenoma risk (22.8% vs 28.9%; RR 0.79), while folic acid supplementation showed no protective effect on adenoma recurrence
Conclusions
Folic acid did not prevent adenoma recurrence in this trial
Limitations
Three-year follow-up, single folate dose, adenoma recurrence is a surrogate endpoint
