Methodology
Randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind crossover trial of nicotinamide riboside 1000 mg/day, CoQ10 1200 mg/day and placebo for 6 weeks each with metabolomics
Key Findings
Neither NAD precursor nor CoQ10 improved VO2 peak, total work or work efficiency versus placebo, although metabolomic profiles shifted.
Conclusions
Mitochondrial-targeted supplements did not translate into functional gains in this trial.
Limitations
Small crossover sample, CKD-specific population, 6-week exposure per arm, functional rather than direct senescence endpoints.
Supplements Studied
