Methodology
Randomised placebo-controlled pilot of absorbable DIM 108 mg/day for 30 days in 19 postmenopausal women with a history of early-stage breast cancer, measuring urinary oestrogen metabolites.
Key Findings
DIM significantly increased the 2-hydroxyoestrone to 16-alpha-hydroxyoestrone ratio and raised urinary 2-hydroxyoestrone versus placebo.
Conclusions
DIM shifts oestrogen metabolism toward the 2-hydroxy pathway; clinical significance for cancer risk is unproven.
