    Methodology

    Controlled crossover study of four-hour 10C water immersion with either no rehydration or 1 L plain-water rehydration, followed by run to exhaustion and lower-body negative pressure testing

    Key Findings

    Run duration (547 vs 566 s; P=0.79) and orthostatic tolerance did not differ between no rehydration and 1 L water rehydration, though both were worse than control.

    Conclusions

    Rehydration with plain water alone did not restore performance or orthostatic tolerance after immersion-induced fluid loss - a null result for electrolyte-free rehydration.

    Very small all-male sample, niche cold-immersion model, no electrolyte-containing comparator arm
