    Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial comparing black cohosh, multibotanicals, soy, hormone therapy and placebo for vasomotor symptoms.

    Key Findings

    Black cohosh, multibotanical preparations and soy did not reduce vasomotor symptom frequency or intensity more than placebo at any timepoint, whereas hormone therapy did.

    Conclusions

    This well-powered trial found no benefit of black cohosh for hot flashes.

    Limitations

    Single population, symptom-diary endpoints, botanical preparations may differ from other products.
