    Zinc supplementation reduced the likelihood of immunological failure fourfold, but HIV viral load did not differ significantly between zinc and placebo groups.

    Conclusions

    Zinc preserved CD4 counts and reduced diarrhoea without measurably lowering HIV viral load.
