Evidence review of 84 studies of vitamin, mineral and multivitamin supplementation for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease, cancer and mortality.
Key Findings
No consistent benefit was found for multivitamins or most single nutrients; beta-carotene increased lung cancer risk in high-risk groups.
Conclusions
Routine supplementation for disease prevention is not supported in well-nourished adults.
