    Published in Human Psychopharmacology

    Methodology

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of Ginkgo biloba versus placebo for two months in patients with antidepressant-induced sexual dysfunction

    Key Findings

No statistically significant difference from placebo at weeks 2, 4 or 8. Both groups improved from baseline, highlighting a large placebo response in sexual function outcomes.

    Conclusions

Ginkgo biloba did not replicate earlier positive findings and performed no better than placebo for antidepressant-induced sexual dysfunction.

    Limitations

    Very small sample (n = 37), short duration, single-centre

    Supplements Studied

This study did not replicate a prior positive finding supporting the use of Ginkgo biloba for antidepressant, especially SSRI, induced sexual dysfunction
