Large randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial of daily multivitamin and mineral supplementation in adults aged 65 and over, measuring infection-related contacts and hospitalisation.
Key Findings
Multivitamin and mineral supplementation did not reduce infection rates, days of infection or primary care contacts compared with placebo.
Conclusions
Well-designed null trial: routine multivitamins do not improve immune outcomes in the elderly.
