Abstract
Open-label crossover pharmacodynamic study of betaine HCl for gastric re-acidification during rabeprazole-induced hypochlorhydria.

A single 1500 mg dose of betaine HCl temporarily lowered gastric pH from above 5 to below 3 within minutes in volunteers with drug-induced hypochlorhydria, with re-acidification lasting roughly an hour.
