Methodology
Twelve-week randomised placebo-controlled trial of oral indole-3-carbinol 200 or 400 mg daily in 30 women with CIN II-III, with colposcopy and biopsy endpoints
Key Findings
Complete regression of CIN occurred in 4 of 8 patients at 200 mg and 4 of 9 at 400 mg, versus none of 10 in the placebo group.
Conclusions
Indole-3-carbinol induced regression of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia in a small placebo-controlled trial.
Limitations
Very small sample; single centre; never replicated in a larger trial.
