    Published in PeerJ

    Methodology

Systematic review and meta-analysis of emodin in type 2 diabetes animal models across eight databases searched to May 2023, with SYRCLE risk-of-bias assessment

    Key Findings

Emodin improved glucose and lipid parameters in diabetic animal models, but all included studies were preclinical.

    Conclusions

Metabolic benefit is animal-model evidence only and does not translate to human dosing guidance.

    Limitations

Animal studies only; heterogeneity; risk of bias in included studies.

    Supplements Studied

    Emodin
    Compound
