Methodology
Parallel-group, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 200 mg/day enzymatically modified isoquercitrin for 8 weeks during pollen season
Key Findings
Total ocular score and ocular itching score were significantly lower with EMIQ than placebo. Total nasal score and ADL scores only trended lower. Serum IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, IFN-gamma and IgE were unchanged.
Conclusions
EMIQ relieved ocular symptoms of cedar pollinosis without measurable changes in allergic cytokines.
Limitations
Very small sample (n=20), single pollen season, nasal symptom benefits not statistically significant.
