    Methodology

    Systematic review of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central and grey literature for RCTs of oral vitamin D versus placebo in psoriasis; 4 studies qualitative, 3 pooled with random-effects modelling and Hartung-Knapp adjustment.

    Key Findings

    Vitamin D improved PASI at 6 months (MD -0.92; 95% CI -1.72 to -0.11), but after the Hartung-Knapp adjustment the effect became non-significant (MD -0.92; 95% CI -2.21 to 0.38).

    Conclusions

    A favorable effect of oral vitamin D supplementation in patients with psoriasis could not be verified.

    Limitations

    Only three trials poolable; small samples; heterogeneous dosing regimens; imprecise pooled estimate.
