    Methodology

    Randomized controlled trial in patients with multiple sclerosis; serum homocysteine, anemia markers and a quality-of-life questionnaire were assessed before and after supplementation.

    Key Findings

    Supplementation with vitamin B12 plus folic acid significantly reduced serum homocysteine and improved haematological anemia indices and quality-of-life scores compared with the control condition in patients with multiple sclerosis.

    Conclusions

    Vitamin B12 and folic acid supplementation lowered homocysteine and improved anemia status and quality of life.

    Limitations

    Small sample (n=50), single-centre, short follow-up, and surrogate biochemical endpoints rather than disability or relapse outcomes.
